Pepperell Prudence Wright Overlook Fund Raiser -The monument is done!

Businesses Join Together to Promote Pepperell’s History

Designs are underway for the new Prudence Wright Overlook, Nashua River Access Area and Pepperell businesses are showing their support.  The land adjacent to the bridge, owned by The Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, is scheduled to be a unique area featuring a natural setting of beauty and history. Funding is already in place for a historical kiosk promoting the history of Pepperell’s covered bridges and expanding upon the heroic story of Prudence Wright, the woman patriot who defended the bridge and our independence during the revolutionary war. The Prudence Wright monument, a favorite local icon, will be displayed near the kiosk.

The original brass plaque from the old Chester Waterous Bridge is now mounted on granite and carefully stored until it's installed at the site. Actual wood from our first covered bridge built in 1848 will be featured at the site along with natural plants and landscaping. To help achieve these goals, Pepperell businesses joined together and started a successful fundraiser in town.  We want to ensure that every business has the opportunity to make a donation if they can.  All businesses will be recognized for their donation and businesses donating $75 or more will be listed on a plaque at the site. All proceeds from the fund will go to benefit the covered bridge site.  Donations can be mailed to: Pepperell Scenic Outlook Project, PO Box 1237, Pepperell, MA 01463.  Donations can also be made to the Pepperell Scenic Outlook Fund at Lowell Five, at 65 Groton Street in Pepperell.  For more information, please call 978 433-3232.

Thank you to all the kind and generous businesses in our town for their generosity so far.

Sincerely,
The Covered Bridge Committee
