Businesses are joining the Covered Bridge Committee
The Covered Bridge Committee is formally created!
Monday, March 29th, the Pepperell Board of Selectmen voted to create a Covered Bridge Committee consisting of seven to nine members, who are residents of Pepperell and who will advise the board and oversee funds to benefit the historic site of the covered bridge.
The committee will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the covered bridge site, verifying that information presented at the site is historically sound and promoting the history of the bridge area. The Committee will oversee the up keep of bridge artifacts, historical monuments, an educational kiosk, a brick commemorative walkway and a natural setting of plants and landscaping.
Membership will include two ex-officio members from town or state agencies who have direct supervision of the property or structures at the site. The Committee’s priority will be to include such organizations as the Historical Society, Historical Commission, Prudence Wright Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Veterans Associations, Boy and Girl Scouts, the business community and interested residents.
The Committee will ensure that today’s community and generations to come will remember the people and events that have shaped our past and contributed to our town’s future. The public is welcomed to join the town-wide Committee and share ideas and talents for the benefit of all. For more information, call 978 877-0306 or e-mail coveredbridgecommittee@yahoo.com.
